Responsibilities
- Perform specific testing techniques to assist in diagnosis, monitoring, treatment and research.
- Insertion of intravenous and intraosseous catheters in appropriately identified health care settings.
- Utilizes respiratory equipment in all modalities to include but not limited to: medical gases, IPPB treatments, aerosol treatments, chest physiotherapy and other airway clearance techniques.
- Provide education to patients, families and the general public.
- Initiates and maintains invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
- Administers pharmacologic, diagnostic and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures.
- Assist physicians in patient assessment, response to therapies, and recommendations for changes in therapies.
- Respond to all STAT situations involving Respiratory Care.
- Contribute in the development and revision of Respiratory policies, procedures and protocols.
- Collaborate in the development and implementation of research and/or quality improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Care. Minimum of an Associate Degree in Respiratory Care.
- Education and/or Experience Preferred: Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Preferred: Neonatal and Pediatric Experience preferred.
- Licenses and Certifications Required: Current State of Connecticut license as Respiratory Care Practitioner. Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT).
- Licenses and Certifications Preferred: Credentialed by the NBRC as a Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist, preferred.
