Respiratory Care Practitioner PRN CRT - Nights
Job Summary
Assesses, treats, and cares for patients with pulmonary disorders. Responsible for the clinical administration of all therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care modalities offered by the department.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
- Experience: One year previous Respiratory Therapy experience preferred.
- Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations: Current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Texas Medical Board; RRT or CRT credential from NBRC; BLS certification upon hire; ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.
- Preferred: PALS and/or NRP certifications within 90 days of employment if required by department.
Essential Job Functions
- Operates and sets up devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration, aerosol generators, and disposable respiratory care products.
- Provides emergency care, including artificial ventilation, external cardiac massage, and assists staff with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Collects and analyzes arterial blood gases and recognizes normal, abnormal, and critical values.
- Maintains patient’s response to therapy by evaluating vital signs, arterial blood gases, auscultation of breath sounds, pulse oximetry, and end-tidal CO2 measurement.
- Consults with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals for changes in patient’s status and collaborates with the team to manage the patient’s plan of care.

Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant is a full-service hospital with over 260 beds that provides specialized services for liver cancer care, emergency care, weight loss surgery, urology surgery, vascular surgery, inpatient rehabilitation, colorectal surgery, and behavioral health care.
