Saint Luke’s Hospital is looking for a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Therapy team that supports our Neonatal ICU (NICU). About the role

The position supports system facility and department growth and quality through participation in performance improvement activities, continuing education, and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of the scope of practice of a respiratory therapist and, where applicable, cardiopulmonary scope of practice.
  • Evaluate and perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and metabolic testing in accordance with physician orders and respiratory medical protocols.
  • Perform or assist in procedures including but not limited to endotracheal intubation, extubations, tracheostomy tube changes, bronchoscopy, and capnography monitoring.
  • Conduct patient assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic interventions analysis, and reporting of clinical response.
  • Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders, transport patients requiring mechanical ventilation or airway protection, and assure safe operations of devices in MRI.
  • Maintain proficiency in the application of mechanical ventilation modalities, Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure, and Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure.
  • Work in collaboration with the medical staff and other members of the healthcare team to support efficient, cost-effective, and quality patient and family care, as well as provide patient and family education and discharge planning.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of applicable experience.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Associate Degree.

Skills

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build patient rapport easily.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with nursing, physicians, and other team members.
