ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs basic respiratory therapy procedures under the supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist.
- Performs diagnostic procedures including, but not limited to oximetry, capnography, arterial puncture, and pulmonary function testing.
- May participate in monitoring of CPAP, BiPAP, and mechanical ventilators.
- Consults with and assists physicians and nurses with respiratory care plans for patients.
- Assesses patients and evaluates appropriateness and quality of respiratory care.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program with current participation in respiratory classes and clinical rotations.
- Knowledge of basic respiratory therapy procedures and documented competency validation.
- Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Adaptable to performing under stress in emergency situations.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment in patient interactions.
- Ability to use a computer for documentation and other relevant activities.
