Position Summary

The Respiratory Therapy Intern supports the Respiratory Department's operations, including equipment maintenance, oxygen tank management, and assisting therapists.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains respiratory equipment by cleaning and disinfecting, assembling and testing, and reporting broken or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Stocks and replaces oxygen tanks as needed.
  • Maintains equipment setup and delivery, communicates with respiratory practitioners, and assists therapists with patient transport.
  • Assists therapists in reviewing and treating patient assessments.
  • Demonstrates and maintains current BLS certification.
  • Maintains a clean work area and attends required meetings and committees.
  • Fulfills policies, procedures, and safety standards, and completes annual education assignments.
  • Works towards achieving job objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Equivalent to a high school diploma or GED, with enrollment in a CoArc approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
  • Current and active enrollment in a CoArc approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
  • No prior work experience specified.
  • Licensure Requirement: Current BLS certification.
