Responsibilities
- Partner with Strategies professionals to prepare research, reports, and competitive landscape analysis for existing and prospective clients.
- Cook up professional schedules for Wisconsin team leads, including internal and external meetings, conference calls, and meetings with legislative, administrative, client, and stakeholder contacts.
- Monitor news, public policy developments, and issues impacting clients and prospective clients.
- Conduct public policy research and analysis.
- Aid in identifying potential business development opportunities.
- Track and analyze legislation and other government activity relevant to client priorities.
- Attend hearings, briefings, and public meetings related to client or organizational interests as needed.
- Compile, organize, and distribute documents, reports, memoranda, and other materials.
- Support outreach and promotional efforts, including appropriate use of social media tools.
- Plan and execute internal meetings and external events for Michael Best Strategies.
- Represent the team in relationship-building and brand messaging efforts that strengthen the firm’s network and client base.
- Interact professionally with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Afford assistance with special projects and general office duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to work between 20-30 hours per week.
- Demonstrated academic achievement, including a GPA of 3.3 or higher.
- Preferred majors include government, political science, public policy, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word; PowerPoint experience is beneficial but not required.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to inform and educate through written, oral, and visual media.
- Strong research skills and familiarity with social media tools.
- Self-motivated, innovative, and collaborative, with sound problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills and interest in public speaking and media.
- Knowledge of government and public policy, as demonstrated through completed coursework or related experience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Valid authorization to work in the United States.
