RESP THERAPY INTERN

Position Summary

The Respiratory Therapy Intern supports the Respiratory Department's operations, including equipment cleaning, assembly, distribution, transportation, oxygen tank replacement, and stocking. The intern assists therapists with patient transport and equipment requests, and performs chart reviews under supervision. They must maintain current BLS certification and follow departmental policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain respiratory equipment by cleaning, disinfecting, assembling, and testing as necessary
• Notify biomedical engineering of broken or malfunctioning equipment
• Stock and replace oxygen tanks as needed
• Maintain equipment setup and delivery
• Communicate with respiratory practitioners about equipment and departmental needs
• Absorb assessments from therapists for mechanical ventilator patients
• Perform chart reviews under supervision
• Maintain a clean work area
• Attend meetings and participate on committees as required

Requirements

• No formal education requirement, but must be enrolled in a CoArc approved Respiratory Therapy Program as a second-year student
• Current and active enrollment in a CoArc Respiratory Care Program
• Licensure: Current BLS certification
