Resource Specialist (Rome & Utica)

About the role

Provides a direct link between the low-income population and the various services available to assist in easing problems caused by poverty.

Responsibilities

• Provide intake, assessment, facilitate enrollment, and other assistance to families requesting services.
• Incorporate a Trauma-Informed Care approach to program delivery.
• Advocate for the rights of families experiencing poverty and/or individuals.
• Provide information and referral for services.
• Play a key role in the agency’s Centralized Intake through a database system.
• Work in coordination with other MVCAA programs, make referrals, or take applications for direct services offered by the Agency.
• Conduct outreach and community education programs.
• Attend meetings and participate in trainings, as directed.
• Research rules and regulations relevant to programs and services for families and individuals in poverty.
• Submit written reports and records as required.
• Observe confidentiality according to Head Start Performance Standards and Agency Policy.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Program Manager.

Qualifications

• AAS in Human Services or related field OR 3 or more years’ experience in a related field (preferred).
• Possess excellent customer service skills.
• Able to communicate with the public and low-income families and individuals as well as maintain accurate records.
• Basic arithmetic skills.
• Basic computer literacy in email, word processing, database entry, and internet navigation.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality and privacy.

Pay

$19.41 per hour.
