About the role
The Resource Specialist for NYC Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (NYC-RBERN) coordinates technical assistance and professional development for NYC schools and districts. This position may require occasional regional travel.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates, coordinates, and provides technical assistance, professional development, and related activities to the schools and districts throughout NYC.
- Affords the Director in carrying out the mission of the NYC-RBERN by maintaining ongoing communication with the schools in the region and the Statewide districts.
- Facilitates school-based activities in target schools that are in various stages of improvement.
- Attends NYSED network strategy professional development meetings in Albany.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree, New York State certification as a bilingual/ESL teacher and/or administrator, and minimum 5 years of teaching experience with English Language Learner students.
- Knowledge and Skills: Experience in providing technical assistance to schools/staff, experience and knowledge of School Improvement Initiatives and research-based best practices for teaching ELLs, experience in working with a diverse population in high-need areas, excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office suites.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree or higher in Bilingual Education or TESOL, teaching experience in secondary schools.
