About the Role

USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is the public health regulatory agency responsible for ensuring the safety of meat, poultry and processed eggs. The Des Moines District Office manages inspection and verification programs in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota, and handles certification work including export verification. This position is located in Urbandale, IA, within the Des Moines District Office of the Office of Field Operations, Regulatory Operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains records and documentation.
• Authorizes and audits travel vouchers.
• Maintains liaison with Fleet Services Representatives.
• Functions as a liaison with OHR to initiate recruitment for new or vacant positions.
• Compiles staffing projections for use by the Resource Manager.
• Provides staffing reports for higher management.
• Monitors time and attendance reports.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen or US National.
• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
• Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
• Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.
• Subject to one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable.
• New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required training program before the end of their probationary period.
• Direct Deposit: Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
• Must pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
