Resource Management Specialist

These positions are located in the Office of Field Operations, Regulatory Operations, District Offices. The district office is responsible for the overall management of an inspection and enforcement program involving meat, poultry, and egg products in several states.

About the role

The incumbents of this position have responsibility for coordinating a variety of staffing and related functions to ensure proper and adequate coverage of inspection assignments.

Responsibilities

• Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions
• Plan and organize work
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Assist in researching and interpreting basic regulations and guides
• Assist in development of staffing reports
• Answer routine inquiries from the field and customers on personnel and management issues
• Manage personnel files and records
• Maintain, coordinate calendars and events
• Compile and assemble data, create, and maintain spreadsheets
• Handle personnel, training, leave, staffing, or other administrative requirements
• Research inquiries and provide guidance and advisory services to customers at multiple levels related to staffing
• Coordinate training events and provide input or recommendations for training requirements
• Assist in providing services to customers at multiple levels related to staffing

Requirements

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

Qualifications

• GS-5 level: Applicants must have one year of General Experience: 3 years of progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4.
• GS-7 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-5 level) that demonstrates the duties listed above.
• GS-09 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-07 level) that demonstrates the duties listed above.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
