Residential Support Specialist
About the Role
The Residential Support Specialist at Pittsburgh Mercy is a direct care position focused on supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live fulfilling and independent lives. You will create a supportive and inclusive environment, fostering growth and well-being through compassionate care, personalized assistance, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized care by developing and implementing personalized care plans tailored to residents' unique needs and preferences.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and other essential tasks to promote independence and self-sufficiency.
- Implement behavioral support plans in collaboration with the team, using positive reinforcement and effective communication techniques to manage challenging behaviors.
- Facilitate community integration through recreational activities, outings, and social events to foster a sense of belonging and connection.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including healthcare professionals, therapists, and support staff, to ensure a holistic and person-centered approach to care.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver License and ability to drive an organization vehicle.
- Access to transportation for local travel.
- Act 33/34/73 Clearances.
- Pre-Employment Drug Screen and Physical/TB test.
- Must successfully pass Department of Public Welfare Medication Training within 90 days of employment.

Schedule
This is a non-exempt (hourly) position with the following schedule:
- Monday–Wednesday: 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM
- Friday: 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
