Residential Specialist Full Time, Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center, NJ
About the role
Responsible for assisting with the operation of the Residential Program for individuals with various mental health experiences. Helps residents in all activities supporting their goals including personal care and daily living skills. Supports creation of a safe and clean-living environment for residents and assists with management of resident household, including running errands and preparation of meals. Coordinates with other staff and service providers to support the creation of comprehensive programs that focus on the development of community living skills and increased independence.
Responsibilities
- Participates in development and implementation of the schedule of daily activities and therapeutic services to residents.
- Assists with personal care to residents and supports residents by utilizing intervention strategies as outlined in care plans.
- See that daily activities proceed smoothly and that regular schedules are maintained.
- Supports administration of medication to residents in accordance with program policies, nursing care plans, and physician orders and accompanies residents to physician offices or hospital when needed.
- Provides support in the development of independent living skills, (i.e., shopping, nutrition, cooking, cleaning, etc.), self-care skills, emotional regulation, and interpersonal functioning.
- Observes resident ability to function and provides community integration and support services to residents according to individual plans of care.
- Facilitates contact and provides assistance to members of the Crisis Services Team regarding individuals in residence as needed.
- Participates in building and maintaining community connections.
- Provides shift and chart notes for residents, accurately reflecting current progress towards objectives as outlined in resident care plans.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, Human Services or related field.
- Current adult CPR, AED & First Aid Certifications at time of hire or within 6 months of hire.
- NJ Driving License with a clean record.
- Fingerprinting is required for this position.
