Crisis Clinician Full Time - 3 weekdays and 1 weekend day, four ten-hour shifts per week- Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center, NJ
About the Role
Provide emergency crisis intervention services in community, emergency room, and hospital settings. Conduct clinical and risk assessments, formulate dispositions, and develop after-care plans for patients with behavioral health, co-occurring, and related stressors.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and complete initial and follow-up clinical and risk assessments for patients with behavioral health concerns, including substance use and withdrawal.
- Formulate provisional dispositions and clinical summaries following departmental policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide precise clinical summaries to psychiatric providers to develop appropriate clinical dispositions.
- Develop after-care plans, assist patients in navigating the system of care, and secure follow-up clinical appointments.
- Complete de-escalation interventions with patients independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Facilitate and manage transfers to involuntary, voluntary, and CCIS units for ongoing care.
- Complete documentation, including crisis evaluations, risk assessments, safety plans, and legal documentation for involuntary, voluntary, and pediatric admissions, ensuring compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.
- Manage all required departmental reporting, data collection, and insurance authorizations for pre-certification.
- Conduct collateral information gathering and provide family intervention, support, and psychoeducation.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team, including nursing, psychiatric providers, social work, medical providers, and peer specialists.
- Participate in short-term treatment goal planning and aftercare treatment plans.
- Contribute to departmental quality and safety initiatives.
- Complete assigned departmental competencies, continuing education, and training requirements, including New Jersey Mental Health Basic Screening Certification within one year of hire.
- Operate as part of an interdisciplinary team in the emergency department, providing direct patient support and interventions.
- Assist with assessments, authorizations, and discharge planning for additional crisis sites remotely as requested.
- Maintain active NJ Mental Health Certification through continuing education approved by the Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care Technical Assistance Center (UBHC-TAC).
Requirements
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related field.
- NJ LSW/LAC required.
- NJ Certified Screener at time of hire or full eligibility within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- NJ LCSW/LPC.
Schedule
Four ten-hour shifts per week, including three weekdays and one weekend day, on the 2PM–12AM shift.
