Crisis Clinician - Per Diem - Hours/Shifts Varies - Minimum of 3 shifts per month, Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center, NJ

About the Role

Provide emergency crisis intervention services for patients with behavioral health, co-occurring, and related stressors in community, emergency room, and hospital settings. Formulate clinical dispositions, after-care plans, and assist patients in navigating the system of care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and complete initial and follow-up clinical and risk assessments for behavioral health and substance use concerns.
• Formulate provisional dispositions and clinical summaries following departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
• Provide precise clinical summaries to psychiatric providers to develop appropriate clinical dispositions.
• Complete de-escalation interventions independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Facilitate and manage transfers to involuntary, voluntary, and CCIS units for ongoing care.
• Document crisis evaluations, risk assessments, safety plans, and clinical reevaluations accurately and within required timeframes.
• Complete all required insurance authorizations and follow-up for coverage of needed care levels.
• Conduct collateral information gathering, family intervention, support, and psychoeducation.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams including nursing, psychiatric providers, social work, medical providers, and peer specialists.
• Participate in short-term treatment goal planning and aftercare treatment plans.
• Contribute to departmental quality and safety initiatives.
• Complete New Jersey Mental Health Basic Screening Certification Series within one year of hire.
• Complete assigned departmental competencies and continuing education requirements.
• Provide direct patient support and interventions in coordination with the emergency department team.
• Assist with assessments, authorizations, and discharge planning for additional crisis sites remotely as requested.
• Collaborate and coordinate with departmental leadership.

Requirements

• Master's degree in healthcare or related field.
• NJ LSW/LAC required; LCSW/LPC preferred.
• At least one year of crisis experience required.
• Current NJ Psychiatric Screening Certification or immediate eligibility at time of hire may be considered in lieu of LSW/LAC.
• Minimum of 3 shifts per month, one of which must be a weekend.

Pay

Hourly rate: $40.60
