About the role
OhioGuidestone is a social service agency focused on community behavioral health care, serving around 26,000 Ohioans annually. We provide telehealth and in-person prevention services, mental health and substance use treatment, and support for domestic violence victims.
Responsibilities
- Completes all necessary paperwork including client logs, crisis sheets, information and referral intake, discharge forms, and other required paperwork, ensuring accuracy.
- Answers crisis line to converse and assess caller's appropriateness for admission to Harbor House or make referrals to other suitable community agencies.
- Attends and provides input to agency meetings, as assigned.
- Supervises clients and assists in the cleaning of the shelter.
- Cooperates in maintaining coverage for the Domestic Violence Shelter, which requires coverage seven (7) days per week and up to twenty-four (24) hours per day.
- Promotes the efficient and effective use of Agency resources, including both labor and consumable supplies.
- Supports others in complying with the Policies and Procedures of Harbor House, Inc.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding client information both internally and in dealing with outside individuals and/or agencies.
- Assists residents in safety planning and provides linkage and referral services as needed.
- Provides support to residents by listening and being empathetic, handling crisis situations calmly and efficiently, and calling authorities if necessary.
- Works cooperatively with staff members and promotes positive staff/client interactions through role modeling and teaching.
- Maintains a welcoming and calming atmosphere and models effective conflict resolution.
- Maintains appropriate professional and personal boundaries with staff and clients.
- Relates to other persons and tolerates personal differences in values and opinions, including sensitivity to OhioGuidestone population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and treatment needs.
- Travels to clients’ appointments or meetings using company van or personal vehicle.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special Domestic Violence related events or department specific projects or seasonal program changes.
- May be asked to complete related duties other than those indicated above as assigned by their supervisor.
- Attends required training in trauma informed care, LGBTQ population, victim advocacy skills, legal advocacy skills, BASIC training, ADA, Ethics, Cultural Diversity, Hispanic Population, other underserved groups, Parent Mentoring/Nurturing Parent Model, and other trainings as assigned.
- Tracks and logs outcomes data in the electronic record.
- Manages and monitors the security of the home, tending to the monitors, driveway sensors, cameras, etc., to ensure victim safety and timely alerts to law enforcement.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or Associates Degree or enrollment in college with a major in sociology, psychology, criminal justice or related field; or appropriate work and/or life experience.
- A valid Ohio Driver’s License and safe driving record.
