As a member of the HDH team, you will be part of a self-funded unit with over 1,200 staff employees, over 2,000 student employees, and an annual operating budget of $371 million, providing housing and dining services to over 20,000 students, faculty, staff, and their families.
About the Role
The Residential Services unit in RRSS leads and oversees the planning, development, implementation, and success of programs, services, activities, and processes for undergraduate students residing in the Upper Division Housing communities including Pepper Canyon and Matthews Apartments, the Rita Atkinson Residences, Pepper Canyon West, and Pangea Residence Halls and Apartments. Housing over four thousand students, the Residential Life team is critical to enhancing the student experience and increasing student engagement.
The Residential Services Operations Manager supervises the professional admin support staff for the Residential Life teams who are responsible for overall day-to-day functions related to office administration, program support, policies, procedures, and guidelines for fiscal and office matters. This position coordinates large-scale events and programs for Residential Life, directly supervising the Residential Community Organizer team, which includes the hiring and selection process, comprehensive trainings, and providing work direction through weekly meetings and annual evaluations. Assists in managing a portion of the residential program budget. Works independently under general supervision to provide information and interpretation of complex policies, procedures, and regulations. Identifies and responds to student and staff needs for programs, services, and operations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise professional admin support staff for Residential Life teams.
- Coordinate large-scale events and programs for Residential Life.
- Directly supervise the Residential Community Organizer team, including hiring, selection, training, and evaluations.
- Manage a portion of the residential program budget.
- Provide information and interpretation of complex policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Identify and respond to student and staff needs for programs, services, and operations.
- Work independently under general supervision on predetermined assignments.
- Direct subordinates using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
Qualifications
- Experience working with college students to lead and implement educational, cultural, and social programs.
- Ability to track budgets and make recommendations for future budget development based on current and projected program needs.
- Experience with creating and tracking budgets related to operations, programs, and events.
- Working knowledge of the organization's processes and procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the history and trends in student affairs.
- Experience working in a team environment, actively participating to accomplish assignments and achieve goals.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling.
- Ability to make sound independent judgments and maintain a calm, professional demeanor.
- Ability to train staff in clear, courteous, and diplomatic communication.
- Strong service orientation with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

- Attendance at Move-in & Move-out, Residential Life Team retreats, the Sun God Festival, Triton Day, and other campus-based programs as assigned is mandatory.

Pay
Hiring Pay Scale: $75,000 - $93,000 annually
Annual Full Pay Range: $73,800 - $131,200 (prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $35.34 - $62.84
Schedule
Days, 8 hours per day with occasional evenings and weekends.
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
1 remote day per week.
