About the role
Northfield is a 24/7 residential program for adults with serious mental illness. Residential Rehabilitation Counselors work alongside residents to teach life skills, build healthy habits, and provide support.
Responsibilities
- Maintains physical environment and program standards to CHR, DMHAS, TJC, and DPH licensing standards.
- Establish rapport and working relationship, utilizing person-centered practices.
- Effectively utilizes appropriate communication methods/tools to transfer information to other staff regarding the daily events.
- Teaches and assists all residents in areas of rehabilitation including nutrition and wellness, meal preparation, hygiene, laundry, banking and budgeting, basic home care skills, substance use education and recovery skills.
- Aids/Manages administrative functions and tasks at the direction of the supervisor.
- Prepares and facilitates educational and skill-building groups and one-to-one interventions as directed by the treatment plan.
- Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
- Participates in staff meetings, supervision, training, and other meetings as assigned.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two years’ experience in the provision of mental health services required for applicants without a Bachelor’s degree; Experience working with adults with Serious Mental Illness in a residential or supported living setting preferred; experience providing skills building teaching in group format preferred.
- CPR/First-Aid Certification within 6 months of hire or according to program requirements.
- Valid driver’s license required.
