We specialize in outpatient services, residential treatment programs, mental health housing, and other supports in beautiful and therapeutic service settings.
About the Role
The Residential Peer Support Specialist will support programs in North Bend and Coos Bay. They will meet each new resident at admission to the program and support the individual in feeling welcome, answer their questions, provide compassionate support, and guide them in articulating any self-determined goals they may want to work on while at the residential treatment facility.
The position will engage in one-to-one conversations with residents to build trust, utilize strategic self-disclosure to build connection and normalize mental health challenges, and support individuals in connecting with community peer support systems. This position will facilitate and coordinate peer groups where residents can discuss their unique recovery stories and challenges.
This position may require travel to our Coos Crisis Resolution Center in Coos Bay, Oregon. Crisis de-escalation training is provided, which requires performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques.
This position falls under the AFSCME bargaining unit. Wages, benefits, and working conditions are set in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- Personal experience with mental health challenges
- Certified and Registered as a Peer Support Specialist (PSS) or Peer Wellness Specialist (PWS) through the Oregon Health Authority (OHA)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a DHS criminal background check
- Must be 18 or older at the time of hire (per OAR 309-035-0135)
Physical Requirements
- Frequently talk, listen, use hands and fingers, reach, stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, and climb stairs
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds
- Occasionally use ladders, squat/kneel, and perform other physical tasks
- Successfully complete crisis de-escalation and CPR trainings, which may require lifting and transferring clients

Pay
$24.64 - $26.15 per hour, based on experience and credentials.
Differentials:
- Night Shift (NOC) Differential: Additional $3.00 per hour for hours worked between 10:00 PM and 8:30 AM (minimum 2.5 hours within this period)
- Secure Program Differential: Additional $2.00 per hour for all hours worked in an eligible CCS secure program
- Bilingual Differential: Additional 5% pay differential for employees who meet the qualifications of the CCS Language/Bilingual Program

Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM (Part-time)
About the Program
Cedar Bay: A co-ed, 5-bed Residential Treatment Home serving adults living with a mental illness. Each resident enjoys a private bedroom, shared bathrooms, and multiple living areas. The program features a wraparound deck and raised garden beds for outdoor enjoyment and is close to the bay and public services.
Coos Crisis Resolution Center (CCRC): A 6-bed, licensed crisis residential facility serving adults experiencing a mental health crisis. The program offers both individual and shared rooms, with community areas including a kitchen/dining room, living room, reading area, and a spacious back deck and yard.
