ColumbiaCare Services is a non-profit, behavioral health and Veteran’s service agency offering a full spectrum of programming to help people get better. We specialize in providing outpatient services, residential treatment programs, mental health housing, and other supports in beautiful and therapeutic service settings.

About the Role

We are looking for a Residential Peer Support Specialist to join our team at our Bell Cove RTH program in Brookings, Oregon. The specialist will meet each new resident at admission to support them in feeling welcome, answer their questions, provide compassionate support, and guide them in articulating self-determined goals. This position involves:

  • Engaging in one-to-one conversations with residents to build trust
  • Utilizing strategic self-disclosure to build connection and normalize mental health challenges
  • Supporting individuals in connecting with community peer support systems
  • Facilitating and coordinating peer groups where residents can discuss their unique recovery stories and challenges
  • Receiving crisis de-escalation training, which includes performing physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques

This position falls under the AFSCME bargaining unit. Wages, benefits, and working conditions are set in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

Requirements

Successful candidates MUST:

  • Have personal experience with mental health challenges
  • Be Certified and Registered as a Peer Support Specialist (PSS) or Peer Wellness Specialist (PWS) through the Oregon Health Authority (OHA)
  • Provide a valid driver's license from their state of residence or obtain and submit one within 30 days of hire
  • Maintain a safe driving record
  • Pass a DHS criminal background check

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently talk, listen, use hands and fingers, reach, stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, and climb stairs
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds
  • Occasionally use ladders, squat/kneel, and perform other physical tasks as applicable
  • Successfully complete crisis de-escalation and CPR trainings, which require performing physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques, and may require lifting and transferring clients

Per OAR 309-035-0135, Direct Care staff must be 18 or older at the time of hire.

About the Program

Bell Cove is a co-ed, 5-bed Residential Treatment Home serving adults living with a mental illness. Each resident enjoys their own private, ADA-accessible bedroom with half-bath. The program offers a lovely open living design and common areas, including a private library/activity room and beautiful patio and backyard. ColumbiaCare Services is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.

Pay

$24.64 - $26.15 per hour, based on experience and credentials.

Differentials:

  • Night Shift (NOC) Differential: An additional $3.00 per hour for hours worked between 10:00 PM and 8:30 AM (provided at least 2.5 hours of the shift occur within this period)
  • Secure Program Differential: An additional $2.00 per hour for all hours worked in an eligible CCS secure program
  • Bilingual Differential: An additional 5% pay differential for employees who meet the qualifications of the CCS Language/Bilingual Program

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM (Part Time, Day)
