About the role
A Residential Manager is primarily responsible for training, scheduling, assigning, and monitoring direct care workers based on the needs of the residents & maintaining high care and compliance standards within their assigned home(s).
Responsibilities
- Oversees day-to-day operations of the home to ensure that daily programs and activities are carried out and documented across all shifts.
- Plans, organizes, and directs the operations of the house; reinforces the hierarchy of care and agency expectations.
- Supervises staff and ensures the implementation of the individual programs.
- Makes certain that direct care staff complete required reports and documentation using stringent monitoring practices, training, and re-education of staff.
- Maintains accurate reporting of incidents and thorough documentation of relevant details.
- Monitors goal and procedural objectives implemented by direct care staff and reports findings to the Program Specialist / Program Specialist Manager.
- Makes certain that all materials and supplies needed for the homes are available, including maintenance issues at assigned homes, as well as vehicle maintenance.
- Ensures food menus and doctor-prescribed diets are followed and that sufficient groceries are in the house; performs any shopping as needed.
- Trains and supervises newly hired direct care staff in the house and participates in the training and evaluation of assigned staff.
- Conducts monthly fire drills and fire safety trainings as required by regulations.
- Understands and complies with Verland’s Mission and Policies and Procedures & HIPAA policies and educates staff on and enforces compliance with these policies.
- Completes and submits inter-departmental paperwork as required (e.g.: FML, Worker’s Compensation, Change of Status Forms, etc).
- Completes Medication Administration Practicums, as needed, and completes weekly MAR reviews.
- Makes certain that all staff members are scheduled appropriately, house budgets, expenses, and payroll are managed.
- Attends in-service training sessions and meetings as directed, including supervisory skill training.
- Participates in inter-departmental venture/committees/processes as needed (e.g.: Human Resources, Quality Management, Fiscal, etc.).
- Participates in the Inter-Disciplinary Team.
- Maintains and monitors residents’ adaptive and personal equipment.
- Recommend goals & activities to the Program Specialist.
- Skilled in the ability to cope with day-to-day problems and to record and report observations of individuals’ progress, responses, etc.
- Able to maintain an empathetic attitude toward the individuals served.
- Comprehension of, or capability of, learning the fundamental principles and practices of physical and mental health, including appropriate medical terminology.

- High school diploma or GED certificate required. A Bachelor’s degree in Education is preferred, with experience in the field of Human Services.
- Must possess a working knowledge of residential practices and an understanding of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be certified in First Aid, CPR, and have all state required clearances.

- Skilled in the ability to cope with day-to-day problems and to record and report observations of individuals’ progress, responses, etc.

Pay
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
24/7 on-call, salaried, exempt position.
