Duties
- Creates and maintain an environment that allows students to learn and practice independent and community living skills.
- Makes sure the living area is safe, secure, clean, and attractive for students.
- Supervises staff to make sure students are safe and accountable.
- Shares information effectively to keep everyone informed.
- Records important information about student events and shares it with others.
- Maintains individual student records containing basic information and emergency contacts.
- Controls student movement between dormitories.
- Distributes dormitory supplies and materials.
- Monitors dormitory performance and tracks incentives.
- Hires and trains Residential Advisors (RAs).
- Screens and interviews potential RAs.
- Schedules and supervises RA performance.
- Maintains accurate and complete dormitory activity logs.
- Maintains and follows non-health standing orders.
- Prepares for the incoming shift by briefing them on students' conditions.
- Ensures residential advisors check dormitories, snack bars, and canteens and document findings.
- Liaises with the Center Director after normal business hours.
- Sets and submits time sheets according to center policy.
- Assists with the student leadership program.
- Conducts and documents quality assurance audits and self-evaluations.
- Maintains the safety, health, and security of students, staff, and property.
- Maintains evacuation route maps and conducts regular staff meetings.
- Makes sure students develop long- and short-term personal and independent living goals.
- Models and mentors appropriate career success skills.
- Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement of independent living skills.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of two years related experience as Residential Advisor or similar supervisory experience.
- A minimum of an Associate’s Degree from a College or University, or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, subject to DOL approval of a waiver.
- Valid state driver’s license required.
