About the Role
Responsible for providing students with a safe and structured living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement, and success. Oversees the daily management of the residential living programs and uses proper judgment and discretion to resolve student and staff issues and problems. Manages non-class hour residential living environment and ensures quality leadership and evening programming to enhance students' independent living and employability skills. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data. Must possess an in-state driver's license.
Responsibilities
- Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data.
- Ensures the center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals.
- Interviews, recommends for hire, disciplines, recommends for termination, and evaluates the performance of employees in the Residential Living Department.
- Ensures assigned dormitory facilities are organized, clean, safe, and conducive to student achievement and success.
- Coordinates staff coverage to ensure student areas are supervised, including maintaining an active list of substitute staff to fill vacancies and call-outs.
- Ensures all staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements and fills staff vacancies in a timely manner.
- Employs sound time-management and delegation skills; holds staff accountable for producing quality work, develops staff for career progression, and disciplines staff that fail to meet goals.
- Provides required/supplemental training for new and current employees.
- Effectively motivates, empowers, and requires staff to perform job responsibilities; creates a supportive work environment, recognizes staff accomplishments, and proactively addresses staff performance concerns.
- Conducts social development training, including independent living skills and leadership training.
- Oversees student-led programming, including the Center's Student Government Association.
- Provides residential students with comprehensive and individualized case management, ensuring student progress, retention, and completion of the Job Corps program.
- Establishes supportive/mentoring relationships with students throughout their enrollment and provides personal counseling.
- Collaborates with the Guidance Counselor to conduct Evaluations of Student Progress; routinely evaluates and documents student performance using the case management system.
- Contributes to the Center's culture by treating students with care and respect, assisting students in achieving personal and career goals, and ensuring students feel safe and welcomed during enrollment.
- May be responsible for Center Shift Operations.
- Produces quality work/assignments in a thorough, timely, and accurate manner.
- Maintains appropriate personal attendance, accountability, and work productivity standards.
- Plans, prioritizes, and organizes assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.
- Understands and applies job knowledge to effectively complete all required job responsibilities.
Management & Supervision
- Supervises and manages the program and activities of the Residential Living Department.
- May be assigned Acting Programs Director in the Director's absence.
Requirements
- Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience working with youth or students, preferably in supervision (Job Corps or similar setting).
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
