Residential Lead (Mon- Thurs 3:30pm - 11pm)

About the Role

The Residential Lead provides necessary supports for individuals with an intellectual and/or developmental disability to live as independently as possible within an AEDD residential environment. This role involves directing and supporting residential direct support professional staff to enable persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to live, work, and enjoy recreational opportunities in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in program activities, chaperones group-sponsored trips and social functions, and escorts individuals on trips outside of the establishment for shopping and recreation.
  • Completes grocery shopping, orders supplies, and determines need for maintenance, repairs, and furnishings.
  • Communicates with other Direct Support Professional staff concerning daily activities of residents, menus, and facility chores.
  • Ascertains need for and secures services of physicians, and escorts individuals on trips for medical or dental services.
  • Assists resident(s) with maintaining appropriate behavior and showing respect for others at home and in the community.
  • Assists resident(s) in daily living skills as outlined in the annual Medicaid Waiver Person Centered Service Plan, Outcomes, and Goals section.
  • Increases resident(s) community awareness by participating in outings such as shopping, social/community events, appointments, vocation, banking, church of choice (if applicable), and other locations of interest.
  • Provides transportation as needed via personal vehicle, ensuring compliance with AR State minimum auto liability insurance requirements and a valid AR driver's license.
  • Maintains records of money spent for resident(s) and provides input for the Annual PCSP plan.
  • Observes and documents consumer's daily progress on timesheets, behavior incident reports, etc.
  • Completes and submits weekly casenotes, medication, and travel documentation within Casenotes by 10:00 am every Monday.
  • Communicates effectively with resident(s) to understand written activity plans, execute instructions, and document services delivered.
  • Provides support to resident(s) in health and independent living skills/activities of daily living, including:
    • Maintaining a clean and organized bedroom.
    • Taking care of shared rooms by keeping them clean.
    • Keeping the yard attractive and clear of debris.
    • Appropriate use of the telephone and being courteous of housemates regarding its usage.
    • Maintaining appropriate behaviors in social situations.
    • Proper use of clothes washer/dryer.
    • Proper personal hygiene.
    • Assist with mending and sewing needed for the house or residents.
  • Counsels residents in identifying and resolving social or other problems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or successfully completed GED.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant, supervised work experience with a public health, human services, or other community service agency; or a minimum of two years verifiable experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Arkansas Driver's License and Auto Liability Insurance.
  • Ability to compute basic math functions such as adding and subtracting.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed and uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Safety Sensitive Position

This position is classified as safety sensitive under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment. Employees must refrain from reporting to work or being subject to duty while their ability to perform job duties is impaired due to the use of alcohol or other drugs. Employees are prohibited from testing positive for metabolites of substances listed in the schedules of the Federal Controlled Substances Act and the Arkansas Uniform Controlled Substances Act, regardless of whether the employee possesses a medical marijuana registry identification card. Any employee who possesses a medical marijuana registry identification card must disclose that fact to the Human Resources Department.
