Responsibilities
- Evaluate appropriate residential door and installation/service requirements for each job.
- Prior to commencement of work, determine if appropriate tools and equipment are working and / or available.
- Determine if added work needs to be performed and the measures needed to assure approved installation of product.
- Note alterations, construction modifications and obstructions before each job begins.
- Document the work to be performed with the Salesperson and/or Scheduling Supervisor for approval.
- Perform related minor work in framing, build-ins, and adjustments.
- Service and/or install Wayne Dalton Corp. residential garage doors using appropriate tools, hardware and equipment.
- Service and/or install Wayne Dalton Corp. and other manufactured residential garage door operators.
- Perform residential service/installation on a wide range of products, including hinges, operators, door sections, rolling steel, torsion springs, dock equipment, locks, etc.
- Care and maintenance of equipment and tools provided by Wayne Dalton.
- Care and maintenance of vehicles provided by Wayne Dalton.
- Maintain appropriate parts inventory in the vehicle to ensure that items are available for service / installation work.
- Order and gather components and parts.
- Perform acceptance tests.
- Suggest improved methods and techniques to customers regarding door care and operation.
- Recommend system improvements to customers.
- Keep service information confidential.
- Participate in educational opportunities and read professional publications to stay current on technological knowledge.
Qualifications
- 6 month - 1 year related installation or construction experience.
- Excellent telephone, written and verbal communication skills while interfacing with all levels of staff and customers.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic math skills required.
- Ability to read a tape measure and convert nominal measurements.
- Ability to learn product and processes.
- Must have valid DL.
Work Conditions
- Both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Regularly exposed to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Frequent standing, climbing ladders, bending, lifting, and carrying heavy materials (often 50–75 lbs. or more).
- Working on ladders at varying heights.
- Using hand and power tools.
- Repetitive standing, lifting, reaching, bending, climbing, & kneeling.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves, hard hats, eye protection, and steel-toe boots, etc., must be worn on all job sites.
- Standard hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work depending on customer scheduling and emergency service calls.
- Travel to various job locations is required in a company vehicle.
- May be required to travel and stay overnight to complete a project.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in outside weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to successfully pass pre-employment screening requirements (i.e. background, drug, etc.).
