Residential Installation & Service Technician
About the role
The Residential Installation & Service Technician is responsible for broadband installation and troubleshooting activities for voice, video and data services. This role involves completing field assessments, meeting/exceeding company standards/metrics, and obtaining necessary certifications and education for current role and for advancement.
Responsibilities
- Performs installations and changes of service, adhering to company procedures and safety standards.
- Completes service calls, troubleshoots drops from the tap to customer equipment, and designs basic home networks using appropriate technology.
- Records all details of work in a timely manner for customer accounts.
- Determines service acceptability by reviewing and confirming quality of service, and adjusts or fixes service to provide the best possible service for the customer.
- Assists with Wi-Fi installation and troubleshooting, determining appropriate device placement and network design.
- Communicates with customers, educates them on products and services, and provides customer education on products and services, including channel lineup, applications, use of services, and equipment.
- Cleans, maintains, and stocks vehicles and equipment, reports maintenance needs, and reports accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Operates and maintains installation tools, technology, and equipment, such as installation hand tools, light power tools, meters, and ladders.
- Uses digital tools for work order management and digital diagnostics.
- Obtains and maintains appropriate licenses and/or background checks based on federal, state, or municipal requirements.
- Manages high places, manipulates objects, lifts and carries heavy loads, and works in confined spaces.
- Works in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other precipitation.
- Meets or exceeds established goals and performance metrics.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED. Relevant work experience in a similar technical role is preferred. Must be able to lift 70 lbs. or more, work in confined spaces, stand for extended periods, and work near power lines and electricity. Must be able to operate and maintain installation tools, technology, and equipment.
Benefits
Comcast offers competitive base pay starting at $18.20 per hour. Employees are eligible for a commission under the terms of an applicable plan and a bonus. Additionally, Comcast provides a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Schedule
Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. May include nights, weekends, and mandatory overtime.
