The Opportunity

Step into a pivotal technical leadership role where your expertise impacts both our high-end residential clientele and our rising field talent. As a Level 3 Team Lead, you bridge the gap between field execution and operational excellence. You will run advanced diagnostics, maintain top-tier performance standards, and directly lead our department training program in an environment that rejects shortcuts and rewards true craftsmanship.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Technical Leadership: Perform routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and complex repairs independently on a wide range of residential and light commercial HVAC systems, as well as gas hearth appliances.
  • Mentorship & Development: Lead the service department's technical training program, directly helping Entry Level through Level 2 technicians sharpen their skills.
  • Program Management: Drive the Home Comfort Club program for both residential and commercial accounts, ordering preseason truck and warehouse stock to ensure your team is set up for success.
  • Relationship Building: Use advanced communication skills to educate customers on system upgrades, resolve customer service disputes collaboratively, and achieve a benchmark of 100 positive "Rate Our Business" reviews.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage technical wiring layouts, interpret blueprints/wiring diagrams, read testing devices accurately, and flawlessly process service and warranty paperwork.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
  • EPA 608 Certification.
  • NATE Core + 1 Specialty Certification OR NFI (National Fireplace Institute) Certification.
  • Demonstrated mastery of all Level 2 service tools, troubleshooting/diagnostic techniques, brazing, and refrigeration procedures.
  • Ability to work safely from a 28' extension ladder and 12' step ladder, and lift up to 100 lbs on occasion.
  • Proven track record of strong leadership potential, positive attendance, and high-level communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • HVAC Technical School Certificate or equivalent field experience.
  • Valid Unrestricted Minnesota Driver's License.
  • EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling Certification.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage of $29–$33/hour augmented by an uncapped commission and spiff program.
  • 401(k) retirement savings program backed by an employer matching contribution.
  • Robust health and wellness benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, plus a Health Savings Account (HSA).
  • Work-life balance via paid time off (Holidays, Vacation, and Sick leave).
  • Continuous career advancement through safety, manufacturer, and technical training seminars.
  • Modern field technical package (provided smartphone or tablet), company uniform program, and a dedicated company vehicle.

Performance & Advancement Expectations

As a Level 3 Team Lead, your success will be evaluated by clear key performance indicators: maintaining legible and complete service records, achieving an average invoice target of $300, keeping a low callback ratio, and securing a baseline of customer compliments.

Path to Level 4: Ready to climb higher? Waconia Comfort paves a clear path for growth. To promote to Level 4, you will master all Level 3 benchmarks, sell/renew 15 maintenance agreements, generate $5,000 in accessory revenue (or 20 units sold), and pass your second NATE Specialty Exam.
