Residential HVAC Service Technician – Level 3 Team Lead
The Opportunity

As a Level 3 Team Lead, you bridge the gap between field execution and operational excellence. You will run advanced diagnostics, maintain top-tier performance standards, and directly lead our department training program in an environment that rejects shortcuts and rewards true craftsmanship.
How You Will Make An Impact
- Technical Leadership: Perform routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and complex repairs independently on a wide range of residential and light commercial HVAC systems, as well as gas hearth appliances.
- Mentorship & Development: Lead the service department's technical training program, directly helping Entry Level through Level 2 technicians sharpen their skills.
- Program Management: Drive the Home Comfort Club program for both residential and commercial accounts, ordering preseason truck and warehouse stock to ensure your team is set up for success.
- Relationship Building: Use advanced communication skills to educate customers on system upgrades, resolve customer service disputes collaboratively, and achieve a benchmark of 100 positive "Rate Our Business" reviews.
- Operational Oversight: Manage technical wiring layouts, interpret blueprints/wiring diagrams, read testing devices accurately, and flawlessly process service and warranty paperwork.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
- EPA 608 Certification.
- NATE Core + 1 Specialty Certification OR NFI (National Fireplace Institute) Certification.
- Demonstrated mastery of all Level 2 service tools, troubleshooting/diagnostic techniques, brazing, and refrigeration procedures.
- Ability to work safely from a 28' extension ladder and 12' step ladder, and lift up to 100 lbs on occasion.
- Proven track record of strong leadership potential, positive attendance, and high-level communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- HVAC Technical School Certificate or equivalent field experience.
- Valid Unrestricted Minnesota Driver's License.
- EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling Certification.

As a Level 3 Team Lead, your success will be evaluated by clear key performance indicators: maintaining legible and complete service records, achieving an average invoice target of $300, keeping a low callback ratio, and securing a baseline of customer compliments.
Path to Level 4: Ready to climb higher? Waconia Comfort paves a clear path for growth. To promote to Level 4, you will master all Level 3 benchmarks, sell/renew 15 maintenance agreements, generate $5,000 in accessory revenue (or 20 units sold), and pass your second NATE Specialty Exam.
