About the role

The Residential Driver is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers. The role includes ensuring the vehicle complies with the Company’s safety standards, adhering to all regulations, and completing daily vehicle condition reports.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports.
  • Safely operate the truck along the designated route and to the disposal site; read route sheets, follow maps, and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher/supervisor.
  • Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
  • Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers, and others daily to ensure timely and professional service.
  • Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials, clean spills, and adhere to safety standards.
  • Continuously monitor the vehicle’s condition to minimize downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip.
  • Complete required route/productivity sheets, Vehicle Condition Reports, and other documentation.
  • Maintain productivity standards to ensure timely and efficient customer service.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills, professionalism, and cooperation with customers and coworkers.
  • Adhere to Company policies, safety standards, and follow through on challenges as they arise.
  • Follow and comply with all safety policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement.
  • Two years of prior experience driving heavy commercial trucks.
  • Excellent reading and writing skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

  • Light lifting (50-100 pounds).
  • Work in a shop/warehouse environment.
