Residential Counselor -PT

Position

The Residential Counselor is responsible to deliver wellness and recovery-oriented case management and support services to service recipients in accordance with the New Jersey Department of Human Services-Division of Mental Health and Addictions Services regulations.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site supervision and support to service recipient.
    • Communicate observations and information about the service recipient to the program manager, RN and treatment team.
    • Schedule and transport service recipient to appointments.
    • Support recreational and/or socialization activities.
    • Provide residential counseling and crisis intervention (but not including crisis intervention counseling).
    • Participate in the development of the individual service plan.
    • Coordinate individual service coordination activities, including vocational and educational services.
    • Document observations information and services provided to the service recipient in progress notes.
    • Maintain a clean, safe environment in the facility, including assisting with meal preparation and activities of daily living as needed by the service recipient.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health, health or other appropriate human services related discipline.
  • A license as a registered nurse.
  • A combination of one or more years of college, plus related work or life experience together equaling four years.
  • A license as a practical nurse plus two years of related work or life experience or a high school diploma or the equivalent, plus four years of related work or life experience.
  • A valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record that meets agency procedures.

Fanwood, NJ 07023 (Union County)

Shift

Saturday/ Sunday 10am- 6pm
