Role Summary

The Edinburg Center is seeking Residential Counselors to provide direct care to adults with developmental disabilities in a residential program.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and support individuals in all aspects of daily living.
  • Assist individuals in caring for their personal hygiene.
  • Help individuals develop skills to improve social relationships and increase community and recreational activities.
  • Support individuals in meeting their long and short range personal goals.
  • Provide transportation as needed.
  • Aid in the administration of medications.
  • Safeguard the persons' health and well-being.
  • Daily documentation in individual records while guaranteeing privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ensure the home is well maintained, clean, comfortable and homelike.

Qualifications

  • A background in providing professional care & support, such as Home Health Aide experience, positions working with persons with developmental disabilities, or similar personal care experience preferred.
  • A Degree, certification, or related coursework in a Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Outlook, etc) preferred.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • First Aid, CPR, and MAP certification required within first three months of hire.
