Residential Counselor

About the role

FACETS is hiring a part-time Resident Counselor for its group homes serving chronically homeless individuals, who are medically vulnerable, located in Fairfax, VA.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and assistance to residents.
• Aid the case manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring residents’ individual service plans.
• Collaborate with other staff members to ensure residents’ needs are met.
• Monitor and report any maintenance, health, fire, and safety issues.
• Ability to document residents’ behavior and progress in HMIS.
• Represent FACETS in the community in accordance with the Agency Mission, Vision, and Code of Ethics.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent working experience.
• Two years of professional social work/case management experience with homeless and/or at-risk populations preferred.
• Knowledge of current social service, homeless, and housing issues and methods/approaches to address issues.
• Knowledge or understanding of tenant’s rights and responsibilities as well as “strengths based” case management.
• Basic knowledge of facility and household cleaning and repairs.
• Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, good driving record, and personal car insurance.
• Must provide proof of COVID vaccination.
• Candidate will be required to pass criminal background and Child Protective Services background checks.
• CPR Certification Preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to attend occasional meetings at other FACETS office locations within Fairfax County, including 3 annual organization-wide fundraising events each year.
