Residential Counselor
About the role
As a Residential Counselor at Pelham Academy, you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support to adolescents. Our program offers 24-hour care including a school on-site, a full clinical staff, nursing staff, and direct care staff. Schedules are flexible, accommodating three, four, or five-day work weeks.
Responsibilities
- Convey your passion for helping others through an energetic and positive approach
- Bring enriching daily activities for students, including arts and crafts, recreational activities, and offsite field trips
- Create a safe and therapeutic community by supporting students in developing effective coping strategies
- Help students discover what makes them feel competent and valued by working with them to develop life skills such as cooking, banking, vocational skills, and more
- Support students in developing a sense of self and providing them with the skills necessary for success in their next steps
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age
- Maintain a valid driver’s license due to the requirement of transporting students
- Available to work evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed
- Must be able to provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations to ensure the safety of our students
- Background and driving record checks will be conducted
Qualifications
While not specified in the job posting, candidates should have a strong background in psychology, social work, or a related field. Experience working with adolescents and a passion for social justice are highly desirable.

Pay & Schedule
The pay range for this position is $19.00 to $25.00 per hour. Overtime may be required based on the needs of the organization.
Schedule
Multiple schedule options are available, including three, four, and five-day work weeks.
