Residential Counselor

Roles and Responsibilities

• Aid with the admissions and discharge process, conducting thorough safety checks on new admissions and belongings.
• Maintain a safe environment, preventing substance use and contraband entry, and enforcing program rules with empathy.
• Support the structure and integrity of the residential program, documenting daily activities and reinforcing positive behaviors.
• Instruct clients on social skills, modeling appropriate behavior and using teachable moments to guide clients.
• Show professionalism and teamwork, prioritizing the needs of the team over personal interests.

Required Skills and Experience

• High school diploma and one year of relevant experience.
• A basic understanding of addiction and recovery issues.
• Ability to maintain healthy and appropriate treatment boundaries.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Associates or bachelor's degree in SUD, human services, or related field.
• CASAC-T certification or working towards it.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, multitasking abilities, and crisis intervention skills.
• Positive, polite, and optimistic demeanor, able to model appropriate behavior for clients.
• Proficiency in using computers for documentation and communication.

Location and Travel Requirements

Onsite in Trumansburg, NY 14886.

Pay Range Disclosure

Standard rate of $18.45 - $24.21 per hour plus an additional $2/hr for overnight shifts.
