About the role

The Assistant Director of Residential Services (I/DD Group Homes) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of I/DD group homes in Jersey City, NJ. This position ensures that residents receive high-quality care and support while adhering to all regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of I/DD group homes
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Manage staff schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels
  • Conduct regular assessments of resident needs and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement service plans
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, and community partners
  • Provide training and supervision to direct support professionals
  • Assist in the recruitment and hiring process for new staff members
  • Participate in performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff
  • Develop and maintain a safe and healthy living environment for residents
  • Respond to emergencies and crises as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, psychology, public health)
  • At least 3 years of experience in residential care or related field
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD)
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing residential care
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, psychology, public health)
  • Experience leading a team of direct support professionals
  • Proven ability to manage complex caseloads
  • Experience in program development and implementation
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in residential care

Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
