About the role
The Assistant Director of Residential Services (I/DD Group Homes) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of I/DD group homes in Jersey City, NJ. This position ensures that residents receive high-quality care and support while adhering to all regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of I/DD group homes
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Manage staff schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels
- Conduct regular assessments of resident needs and provide recommendations for improvement
- Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement service plans
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, and community partners
- Provide training and supervision to direct support professionals
- Assist in the recruitment and hiring process for new staff members
- Participate in performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff
- Develop and maintain a safe and healthy living environment for residents
- Respond to emergencies and crises as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, psychology, public health)
- At least 3 years of experience in residential care or related field
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD)
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing residential care
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts
Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, psychology, public health)
- Experience leading a team of direct support professionals
- Proven ability to manage complex caseloads
- Experience in program development and implementation
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in residential care
Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
