About the Role

The Residential Coordinator provides day-to-day supervision of Residential Counselors and coordinates with the Rehabilitation Director to ensure clinical supervision of staff. This role ensures direct services are delivered to promote clients' ability to participate in community activities and develop skills for independent living. The Residential Coordinator may also perform the duties of Residential Counselors and is responsible for driving or transporting clients.

The Residential Coordinator ensures living environments meet residential site standards as established by applicable regulations and comply with relevant federal, state, or local ordinances, laws, and orders, including zoning and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff.
• Ensure client home(s) are maintained in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Participate in the assessment of client service needs and the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Individualized Rehabilitation Plan (IRP).
• Ensure appropriate staff coverage at all times, including emergency and on-call coverage.
• Perform the duties of a Residential Counselor as necessary.
• Provide crisis intervention services.
• Monitor record-keeping and serve as a liaison between the community and the program.
• Conduct and attend monthly in-house, program, staff, and training meetings.
• Ensure staff, volunteers, and interns receive orientation and quarterly training; document training as required.
• Participate in the development and licensure of new homes as appropriate.
• Oversee the monitoring of client medication, including reviewing Medication Administration Records (MARS) and weekly medication count sheets.
• Ensure staff provide basic health teaching in areas such as nutrition, exercise, dental care, substance abuse prevention, injury and illness prevention, and communicable disease prevention.
• Implement VOAC policies and procedures and ensure program compliance.
• Ensure staff are qualified to perform rehabilitative services in conjunction with the Rehabilitation Director.
• Collect and maintain data, and prepare reports as required.
• Drive on company business and/or transport clients as required; ensure assigned vehicles are maintained appropriately.
• Participate in and oversee preparation of billing documentation.
• Provide on-call support as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Mental Health, or a related area from an accredited college or university; or license as a Registered Nurse with two years of experience working with persons with chronic mental illness, including some supervisory experience (preferred).
• At minimum, a high school or equivalency diploma and three years of experience working in a mental health and/or social service field. Post-high school education and experience in the field totaling two years may be substituted.
• At least one year of supervisory experience.
• Valid driver’s license in jurisdiction of residence and the ability to drive a personal vehicle for company business.
• Vehicle liability coverage if driving a personal vehicle (may occasionally be required to transport clients).
• Acceptable criminal background check and OIG Exclusion check.
• Negative drug screening.
• CPR/First Aid Certification (must be acquired and maintained once employed).
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, consumers, and program supplies.
• Physical ability to travel to assigned locations, stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear, and perform basic and light home maintenance activities.
• Ability to operate office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
• Ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.
• Occasional ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

• Services are provided that address clients' rehabilitative service needs.
• Clients participate safely and more independently in activities of community life.
• VOAC policies and procedures are implemented, and programmatic requirements are met.
• Appropriate support is provided to Residential Counselors to ensure assigned duties are carried out.
