About the role

The Residential Broadband Technician at Cox Communications focuses on providing residential customers with reliable connectivity through video, high-speed internet, telephony, and automation services. This role requires a strong connection with customers, ensuring their needs are met efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, disconnecting, and troubleshooting video, high-speed internet, telephony, and automation services.
  • Driving a company vehicle between office or home, warehouse, and work sites safely and according to all laws and company policies.
  • Maintaining a current work enablement system for information about work schedule changes and assignments.
  • Communicating with the CommCenter for onsite support and assistance.
  • Interacting with customers to educate them about services and products.
  • Working under supervision and seeking advice and assistance from supervisors and other technicians as needed.
  • Serving as a liaison between the customer and the company’s internal systems.
  • Maintaining accurate and high-quality recordkeeping of transactions.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma/GED with generally less than 2 years of experience in a related field; post-high school education a plus.
  • 18 years of age and valid state driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Physical requirements and limitations for equipment and uniform use (ladder weight limitations, ladder climbing, etc.).
  • Certifications and licenses, as required by state and municipal laws.
  • Successfully meet (and maintain) background check requirements including additional requirements for specialized projects/services.
  • One year of work experience in a comparable field (related hands-on trade role).
  • Minimum of one year of direct customer service experience.
  • PC and Windows software skills.
  • A stable work history.
  • Able to work required shifts and overtime (if necessary).
  • Travel as business needs dictate.

Qualifications

  • Spanish proficiency desirable in some locations.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of residential broadband technologies and services.
  • Ability to work in diverse environments and with various customer types.

Pay

The starting hourly rate is $24.23, with potential for additional compensation including commissions and incentive programs. The hourly base rate may vary based on factors such as location and qualifications.

Schedule
