About the role
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) seeks a Resident Specialist II-III to provide care and support in a residential environment. This role supports individuals with disabilities in achieving their employment goals.
Responsibilities
- Ensures quality care, treatment, training, and support for residents in their living environments.
- Maintains residents’ safety, health, and well-being; responds to emergencies, injuries, or complaints.
- Monitors living conditions, activities, and wardrobes; submits monitoring reports.
- Participates in planning resident assessments and program goals, objectives, strategies, and activities.
- Affirms residents’ progress toward program objectives; implements and monitors behavior, social, and communication skill training and activities.
- Counsels residents and documents behaviors or discipline; communicates with other staff and interested parties regarding residents' program and progress.
- Maintains facility property, equipment, and residents’ personal effects; may transport residents or make travel arrangements.
Requirements
- RS II: High school diploma or equivalent, plus 3 months experience in a residential or dorm living facility.
- RS III: High school diploma or equivalent, plus 6 months experience in a residential or dorm living facility.
- 15 semester hours of college coursework in human services, social science or a related field may substitute for 6 months of experience.
- Must be certified in CPR and first aid.
- Shift: 7AM-3PM or 3PM-11PM; weekends required (one vacancy per shift).
- Up to 10% travel within Texas, occasional weekend travel, and ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of techniques used in planning and monitoring recreational and social activities in a residential rehabilitation setting.
- Ability to facilitate productive interaction between residents and staff, assess residents' functional levels, and train others.
Skills
