About the Role
The Resident Service Coordinator (RSC) provides the highest degree of quality services to residents and families, promoting excellence in resident care through outreach, support, and collaboration with the nursing department. The role involves coordinating resident care conferences, assisting in staff training, and ensuring compliance with evolving assisted living information and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Resident Care and Programs
- Partner with Activities/Life Enrichment staff to ensure individualized activities are available and Resident Assistants are engaged with residents.
- Complete reports and assessments for EW clients; assist with EW screening and communicate with County Case workers.
- Verify County is updated on resident status changes in collaboration with the nursing department.
- Coordinate annual care conferences with families and as needed for status changes.
- Assist with campus staff scheduling to meet client needs.
- Update focus residents and plan appropriate programming.
- Coordinate programming and events with activities staff.
- Oversee resident and community pet issues.
- Mentor staff on interactions with difficult behaviors.
- Follow up on non-nursing quality improvement issues; report clinical issues to the clinical director or DON.
- Oversee resident personal supplies, including incontinence products.
- Oversee household items in cottages and order as needed.
- Partner with nursing to address clinical needs, report condition changes, and maintain communication with direct care staff.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to ensure safety, hydration, and resident engagement in programming.
- Oversee planning for family events and services in Memory Care.
- Partner with Nursing and Dining Service Coordinator to meet individualized resident needs; participate in the dining experience daily.
- Review, read, notate, and initial the Daily log to document resident physical and behavioral changes.
- Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure the community follows all federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to resident care.
- Strive for excellent quality care and service delivery.
- Coordinate with the nursing team to correct deficiencies and meet Gentle Touch Health Initiatives' regulatory compliance expectations.
- Partner with the leadership team to ensure compliance with OSHA, Safety, and Risk Management policies.
- Assist the Campus Administrator with state law compliance.
- Practice safety procedures, including PPE, fire extinguishers, MSDS, and Lockout Tag out procedures.
- Financial Management
- Assist in presenting and promoting Gentle Touch Health Initiatives' products and services.
- Coordinate with the community team to achieve staff economies and cross-training.
- Understand internal costs associated with resident care programs.
- Monitor and document billing changes related to county payments or service credits.
- Training, Leadership, and Employee Development
- Coordinate with the Director of Nursing on department management, including recruiting, hiring, and training new staff.
- Participate in training and self-study programs within required timeframes.
- Develop knowledge of state regulations and ensure compliance through supervision and coaching.
- Complete employee staffing and scheduling according to operational and budgetary guidelines.
- Hold team accountable through corrective actions and document/report to appropriate department heads.
- Attend regular meetings as directed by the Campus Administrator.
- Stay updated on professional developments through reading, conferences, and training.
- Complete all state-required training, including ongoing training per regulations.
Qualifications
- College degree preferred or direct experience in a related senior care area.
- One (1) year of supervisory and management experience, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and daily operations supervision.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and delegate assignments based on skills, roles, and interests.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to facilitate small group presentations.
- Competent in organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel), with the ability to learn new applications.
- Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours to meet peak service delivery times.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently move, push, pull, and/or lift objects weighing 10 to 40 pounds, occasionally up to 70 lbs.
- Use hands and arms for simple grasping, pushing, and pulling.
- Perform tasks requiring muscle actions such as walking, stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying objects.
