About the role
The Resident Service Coordinator identifies the social, emotional, employment, education, and medically related needs of all residents on an individual and group basis and provides services to meet those needs.
Responsibilities
- Achieves housing stability, increases self-sufficiency, and builds safe and supportive communities for residents.
- Links residents to existing community services and creates a network of local social service agencies to facilitate residents’ access to resources, programs, and services.
- Develops and facilitates community-building activities, including resident associations, newsletters, and support groups.
- Advocates for residents by raising awareness among local service providers and promoting partnerships that help residents gain access to needed services.
- Coordinates case management for residents experiencing problems that threaten health, safety, and continued independence, and ensures appropriate service delivery.
- Supports residents in applying for fair hearings when they are eligible for denied services and helps market the housing property through networking contacts in the community.
- Maintains confidentiality with respect to information shared by residents and services provided to residents.
- Keeps appropriate resident files documenting conversations, problems identified, referrals made, residents' acceptance or refusal of services, and residents' progress.
- Completes reports regarding services provided, resident outcomes, and resident satisfaction.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or higher in human services or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience serving low-income individuals, families, seniors, and/or persons with disabilities, or related populations.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of community support services available to residents of family and/or senior housing developments as well as the eligibility requirements for accessing those services.
- Experience working with older persons and/or families in a direct service capacity, especially in the areas of advocacy, self-sufficiency, service negotiation, and community building.
- Experience using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.), data management tools (i.e., databases), and the internet.
- Ability to establish trusting relationships with residents; individually, and as a group.
- Ability to listen to and assist residents in defining their problems; to help identify possible solutions and resources.
- Ability to seek input from residents, to research possible service vendors, to evaluate services delivered and make adjustments, if needed.
- Ability to counsel or advocate in non-judgmental ways to empower residents to make personal decisions and enhance their self-esteem and independence.
- Ability to develop community-oriented activities that build bridges between people, promote active interest in the life of the property, and generate resident self-sufficiency.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
Skills

Pay
$15-$17/hr - Depending on Experience
