Resident Project Representative - Water - Boston

About the role

Functions in our group include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, start-up and decommissioning, and field engineering. The Resident Project Representative is responsible for providing subcontractors and craft with information and direction, as outlined within contract specifications, to allow work to proceed as scheduled. Has authority to interpret technical requirements and provides solutions in conjunction.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical direction and interpretation of design drawings and specification requirements, as well as general guidance to subcontractors on overall design.
• Provides commercial direction, interpretation of subcontracts, and administers discipline-specific or assigned contract requirements in coordination with Field Subcontract Administrator or Procurement Manager.
• Reviews, maintains records, and responds to Contractor Requests as assigned.
• Monitors assigned subcontractor(s) for compliance with subcontract technical requirements.
• Monitors discipline construction activities for compliance with the CPM schedule.
• Prepares and issues all discipline extra work authorization requests (RFMPs/WAs) with the approval of the Project Field Manager.
• Coordinates with Field Subcontract Administrator as needed.
• Maintains a daily log for site record purposes.
• Completes quantity take-offs as required to support construction planning and invoice approval.
• Reviews all subcontractor progress payment requests for acceptance.
• Monitors technical service representative (supplier) daily logs and reviews/approves their timesheets.
• Compiles and maintains Conformed to Construction Records drawing and list markups as assigned.
• Directs site document control activities for design documents.
• Assists Field Quality Assurance Manager in performing inspections and verification of tests.
• Adheres to safety and quality standards as appropriate for level of duties and accountabilities.
• Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
• Acts in the capacity of a "lead person" without management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction except as assigned.

Requirements

• Fifteen (15) years of construction resident engineering or related experience administering public works construction projects.
• Previous Resident Engineer (RE) experience in water pipeline construction is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from either an ABET-accredited program in the USA or an engineering program accepted as valid in the home country or country of practice. A combination of educational degree and experience may be considered to meet this requirement.
• All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected), which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
• See and hear naturally or with correction.
• Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with job duties.
• Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls according to a set procedure.
• Requires repetitive movement.
• May require work above 5 feet in height.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
• Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
• Typical construction site environment: requires working in cramped workspaces and getting into awkward positions.
• Requires working in very hot (above 90°F) or very cold (below 32°F) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
• Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions.
• Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
• Work around hazardous equipment.
• Typical office environment.
• This position is considered safety-sensitive.

Pay

$135,000.00 - $150,000.00
