Responsibilities

  • Provide daily site inspections to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and codes
  • Coordinate and communicate in the field with clients/owners, consultants, contractors, designers, and regulatory agencies
  • Measure and record pay quantities
  • Prepare daily reports
  • Review the Contractor's schedule
  • Perform Wage Rate compliance interviews and documentation
  • Coordinate 3rd-party material testing inspections
  • Review and provide input on potential change order issues
  • Maintain project records
  • Manage project photographic records
  • Verification of construction staking surveys
  • Travel throughout the Western US is required

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience as a construction manager/inspector working on transportation and/or airport related projects
  • Understanding and familiarity with heavy civil construction projects, airport systems, and operation
  • Prefer experience in construction materials testing and/or construction surveying
  • Proficiency in MS WORD and Excel along with excellent written and oral communication skills

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Requirements

  • Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stoop, crawl, and lifting
  • Frequently lift and/or move light equipment up to 20 pounds
  • Must be alert to equipment in the field
  • Occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery
  • Occasional need to walk on uneven ground
  • Exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights
