Resident Maintenance Technician
About the role
The Resident Maintenance Technician position at KNAPP involves providing comprehensive maintenance support for automated storage and retrieval systems and storage/picking systems installed at customer sites. This role requires a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, with a focus on maintaining high levels of equipment utilization and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Rectify electro-mechanical faults and provide specialist technical assistance as a support technician
- Respond to emergency calls from customers
- Ensure safety in all activities and promote successful task completion
- Provide first-class responses to customer inquiries, aiming for a first-time right policy
- Handle setup and calibration of precision automation equipment
- Create strong working relationships with customers and their operational agents
- Train customer's maintenance teams as needed
- Maintain quality of service by ensuring effective communication with customers
- Write and maintain clear reports
- Execute site quality procedures, safety procedures, and statutory procedures
- Participate in regular meetings to discuss activities and progress
- Support the maintenance of customer's installed systems
- Log and manage spare parts usage appropriately with the KNAPP Spare Parts team
- Maintain proper care and maintenance of tooling and equipment
- Ensure flexibility and the best use of skills and capabilities
- Avoid discrepancies in time sheets and documents, submitting them for approval on a bi-weekly basis
Requirements
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 0-3 years of direct experience in providing repairs on various types of machinery systems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- 0-3 years of experience in equipment maintenance, modifications, and design
- Experience in repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC-based machinery, highly automated, and robotic equipment and control systems
- Talent and commitment to provide unique interpretations or analyses of KNAPP systems to customers
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/German) preferred but not required
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and process-oriented mentality
- Hands-on experience and a team player committed to improving processes
- Experience in reducing costs through processes and efficiencies
Skills
- Ability to work against a timeline to complete reactive repairs
- Ability to interact with on-site management, keeping them informed of repair and maintenance progress and addressing their concerns professionally
- Ability to show hands-on ownership of issues to achieve quick time resolution
- Ability to appreciate health and safety considerations with regard to given tasks and carry out risk assessments
- Ability to read assembly drawings and follow set up instructions, assembly drawings, and checklists
- Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills
- Basic computer literacy with Microsoft Office skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing role requirements
- Appreciation of cultural diversity
- Ability to perform all other duties as assigned
