About the role

The Resident Maintenance Technician position at KNAPP involves providing comprehensive maintenance support for automated storage and retrieval systems and storage and picking systems located at customer sites. This role requires a high level of expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, including the ability to handle complex repairs and ensure efficient system operation.

Responsibilities

  • Rectify electro-mechanical faults and provide specialist technical assistance as a support technician
  • Respond to emergency calls by the customer
  • Ensure safety in all activities and promote successful task completion
  • Provide first-class responses to customer inquiries, aiming for a first-time right policy
  • Support the setup and calibration of precision automation equipment
  • Create strong working relationships with customer and their operational agents to enhance Knapp's service offerings
  • Train customer's maintenance teams as needed
  • Maintain quality of service by ensuring effective communication with customers
  • Write and maintain clear reports
  • Log spare parts usage issues and submit them to the Knapp Spare Parts team
  • Maintain proper care and maintenance of tooling and equipment
  • Ensure flexibility and optimal use of skills and capabilities
  • Avoid discrepancies in time sheets and documents, which should be accurately and legibly submitted for approval
  • Perform reactive repairs within set timeframes, demonstrating hands-on ownership of issues
  • Carry out risk assessments and follow safety procedures
  • Operate hand tools and assemble parts onto equipment
  • Follow set up instructions, assembly drawings, and checklists
  • Show exceptional attention to detail and follow-up skills
  • Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers
  • Use computer literacy, including basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Be willing to learn and adapt to changing role requirements
  • Understand and appreciate cultural diversity
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate degree preferably in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation or related field
  • 0-3 years direct experience in providing repairs on various types of machinery systems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • 0-3 years experience in equipment maintenance, modifications, and design
  • Experience in repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC-based machinery, highly automated, and robotic equipment and control systems
  • Talent and commitment to provide a unique interpretation or analysis of KNAPP systems to customers
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with both internal and external customers
  • Computer literate with basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing role requirements
  • Appreciation of cultural diversity

Qualifications

  • Ability to work against a timeline to complete reactive repairs
  • Interact with on-site management, keeping them informed of repair and maintenance progress and addressing their concerns professionally
  • Show hands-on ownership of issues to achieve quick time resolution
  • Have a strong attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills
  • Have a theoretical and operational understanding of repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PLC-based machinery, highly automated, and robotic equipment and control systems
  • Have a mechanical aptitude, including the ability to read assembly drawings
  • Have the ability to operate hand tools and assemble parts onto equipment
  • Follow set up instructions, assembly drawings, and checklists
  • Have a strong problem-solving capability
  • Have a process-oriented mentality
  • Have experience in network equipment interfaces (a plus)
  • Have hands-on experience and a team player committed to improving processes
  • Have experience in reducing costs through processes and efficiencies
