Pay

• Full-Time Day Shift: $21.00 starting rate ($20.00 base pay + $1.00 allowance)
• Full-Time Evening/Overnight Shift: $24.00 starting rate ($20.00 base pay + $1.00 allowance + $3.00 shift differential)
• Full-Time 3-12 Shift: $23.34 starting rate ($20.00 base pay + $1.00 allowance + $2.34 allowance for 36-for-40 schedule)
• Part-Time: $20.00 starting rate ($19.00 base pay + $1.00 allowance)
• Seasonal Day Shift: $20.00 starting rate ($19.00 base pay + $1.00 allowance)
• Seasonal Evening Shift: $23.00 starting rate ($19.00 base pay + $1.00 allowance + $3.00 shift differential)
• Resident Maintenance Technician starting base pay: $26.00

About the Role

As a Resident Maintenance Technician, you will provide industrial electrical/mechanical expertise as part of a team focused on maximizing equipment utilization and efficiency. This role assists in developing and implementing processes to maintain proper functionality of automated systems, requiring advanced knowledge of maintenance best practices and discretion in time management and service delivery.

The position involves technical work with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated equipment, including varying voltage levels (480VAC, 240VAC, 120VAC, 48VDC, 24VDC), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and industrial automated systems. You will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and Manager, working within a team of experienced technicians and engineers, primarily supporting KNAPP-supplied automation in the PDC Barzen facility—one of the largest installations of its kind globally.

This is an essential onsite role requiring regular attendance.

Responsibilities

• Rectify electro-mechanical faults and identify/report PLC-related issues while maintaining a focus on safety.
• Provide expert knowledge and guidance on conveyor and precision automation equipment.
• Support operation and maintenance of automated storage/retrieval and picking systems.
• Respond, track, record, and triage problems or emergency calls diligently.
• Perform emergency breakdown and specialized maintenance services, completing reactive repairs within timelines.
• Address operations inquiries and requests with a "do it right the first time" approach.
• Set up and calibrate precision automation equipment.
• Build strong working relationships within DigiKey to support automated distribution of electronic components.
• Meet performance expectations for output, response speed, repair quality, and workmanship standards.
• Train DigiKey employees on system operations as required.
• Maintain clear, precise quality communications and documentation (e.g., thorough, legible reports via tablets).
• Ensure reports are submitted biweekly to the Supervisor for review and approval.
• Follow site quality, safety, and statutory procedures; conduct risk assessments and apply health/safety considerations.
• Log spare parts usage promptly with the Knapp spare parts team and CMMS.
• Maintain tools and equipment, leading mechanical strip-down/re-assembly, field wiring, calibration, cleaning, and system testing.
• Keep management informed of repair/maintenance progress and address concerns professionally.
• Perform other incidental and related duties as assigned, including weekends and overtime if required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–8 years of progressive experience as a Maintenance Repairman, Maintenance Electrician, Machine Repairman, or Industrial Maintenance Engineer.
• Minimum 3 years of verifiable mechanical/electrical experience.
• Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or similar (preferred).
• Verifiable experience repairing machinery systems (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
• Ability to interpret and work with electrical circuit diagrams.
• Theoretical and operational experience troubleshooting PLC-based machinery.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including reading assembly drawings.
• Proficiency in operating hand tools and assembling/disassembling equipment parts.
• Ability to follow setup instructions, assembly drawings, and checklists.
• Strong problem-solving skills, leveraging curiosity, creativity, and open-mindedness.
