Resident I General Surgery

About the role

Under the supervision of attending physicians, the Resident will perform patient care activities within the scope of their clinical privileges commensurate with the level of training. Responsibilities include attendance at clinical rounds and seminars, timely completion of medical records, and adherence to all requirements defined by the accrediting body of the program (ACGME, AOA, or CPME) and hospital requirements. The resident will remain in compliance with specialty-specific milestones per level of training.

Responsibilities

• Apply established and increasing knowledge base incorporating clinical, social-behavioral, biomedical, and epidemiological sciences to patient care.
• Provide patient care that is compassionate, efficient, and promotes health and treatment.
• Demonstrate life-long learning through research and assimilation of evidence to foster continued patient care initiatives.
• Exercise effective interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with patients, families, health professionals, and other physicians.
• Commit to the practice of medicine with the highest professional and ethical standards.
• Apply the larger context and system of health care, utilizing resources to provide the highest standard of care.
• Participate in the education of patients, families, students, residents, and other health professionals.

Requirements

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or Doctor of Medicine - State (MD-STATE), or Physician in Training/Resident Registration (PIT/RR).
