Responsibilities

  • Submit necessary application and supporting materials to the Virginia Board of Counseling for Resident Licensure.
  • Complete a 3400-hour residency in accordance with regulations set forth by the Virginia Board of Counseling.
  • Participate in one-on-one supervision with the Director of Counseling each week.
  • Pass the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination.
  • Serve on the after-hours on-call rotation for crisis intervention for UVA Wise students.
  • Attend weekly Counseling Center staff meetings.
  • Provide psycho-educational, awareness, and prevention programs to the campus community.
  • Provide counseling services to the student population, including: Assessments, Clinical treatment, Diagnosis, Treatment Planning, and Implementation, Walk-in services, Referral services to appropriate community resources for medication evaluations, specialty services, and/or private practitioners.
  • Provide consultation and referral services to the staff/faculty population on an as needed basis.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Maintain membership(s) in appropriate professional organizations and associations as well as annual state licensure requirements.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with local community agencies to promote and utilize referral resources.
  • Function as a member of Student Affairs team in consultation, special projects, and daily interactions.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Counseling.

Qualifications

  • Resident Licensed Position Within The Counseling Center.
  • Full-time, 12 Month (year-round) Resident Licensed Position.
  • Reports To The Director Of Counseling.
  • Must be able to pass the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination.
  • Must have completed a 3400-hour residency in accordance with regulations set forth by the Virginia Board of Counseling.
  • Must maintain membership(s) in appropriate professional organizations and associations as well as annual state licensure requirements.
  • Must function as a member of Student Affairs team in consultation, special projects, and daily interactions.

Pay

$40,000 - $45,000; depending on qualifications.
