Resident Companion and Activity Volunteer

Key Responsibilities

• Spend time with residents through conversation, games, crafts, walks, music, and other shared activities
• Encourage participation in meals, recreation, and community events
• Aid in recreational, educational, or wellness activities such as arts and crafts, cooking demonstrations, mindfulness exercises, and seasonal celebrations
• Offer encouragement and a supportive, non-judgmental presence
• Help create a warm, stigma-free atmosphere that promotes dignity and inclusion
• Provide occasional assistance to staff with activity preparation, special events, or other non-clinical tasks as needed

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Compassionate, patient, and respectful of individuals living with mental illness
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality
• Experience in mental health, peer support, or human services is helpful, but not required
• Must complete volunteer orientation and background screening
