Essential Job Functions
- Management Functions
- Develop, maintain, update, communicate and enforce facility and state specific written policies and procedures.
- Maintain a current reference of written nursing material.
- Communicate nursing services schedules with other services.
- Recommend equipment needs of the nursing department.
- Prepare and plan the nursing service department’s budget and staffing plan.
- Nursing Care Functions
- Conduct daily nursing functions.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents.
- Communicate with health care providers.
- Complete clinical and environmental rounds.
- Resolve issues with residents and/or family members.
- Communication/Documentation Functions
- Complete initial assessments and develop service plans.
- Communicate with health care providers.
- Review and transcribe service plans.
- Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services.
- Communicate department policies and procedures.
- Document changes in resident condition.
- Inform nursing personnel of resident needs.
- Medication Administration Functions
- Review medication administration records.
- Dispose of drugs and narcotics.
- Personnel Functions
- Aid in the recruitment and selection of nursing service personnel.
- Aid in developing work assignments and schedules.
- Aid and supervise nursing staff.
- Monitor personnel performance.
- Complete performance evaluations.
- Handle complaints and grievances.
- Plan and conduct training classes.
- Make independent decisions and follow instructions.
- Deal tactfully with various individuals.
- Communicate effectively.
- Knowledge/proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience required.
- One (1) year of leadership or care coordination experience preferred.
- Current, active nursing license in the applicable state, in good standing, required.
- Experience in a long-term care, assisted living, or similar healthcare setting preferred.
- Meet all applicable federal, state, and local requirements for the position.
- This position has direct reports and supervisory requirements.
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.
- Ability to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
- Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit, and reach.
- Fine motor skills.
- Cognitive activities: Executes tasks independently, expresses oneself clearly and effectively verbally, concentrates on moderate details with frequent interruptions, visual acuity, hearing alertness.
- Environmental requirements: Potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.
