About the role

Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center is a unique, memory-care assisted-living community for residents with mild to moderate dementia. With a maximum of 51 residents, we offer a small, beautiful, home-like setting with expansive outdoor space. We encourage independence while providing a caring and supportive environment.

The Resident Assistant (RA) is a caregiver who provides compassionate, respectful assistance to residents under the supervision of an LPN or RN.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
  • Assist residents with medication administration as needed.
  • Encourage and support resident independence and dignity.
  • Monitor resident safety and well-being; report any changes to the LPN/RN.
  • Consult with LPN/RN on any changes in resident health status.
  • Build meaningful relationships with residents by understanding their personal histories, preferences, and routines; anticipate resident needs.
  • Help with light housekeeping and meal service to maintain a safe, clean living space.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Promote a warm, friendly, and respectful environment.

Requirements

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in senior care, health care, or assisted living preferred but not required.
  • Ability to follow care plans and safety protocols.
  • Working knowledge of computers, including electronic health records, email, and required in-servicing.
  • Physical, visual, and auditory ability adequate to perform resident care.
  • Maintain composure and positivity in a high-stress environment.
  • Work with residents in a highly personal manner during stages of acute and chronic illness.

Pay

$16.70 – $20.36 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
