About the Role

The Resident Assistant helps maintain a safe, clean, and drug- and alcohol-free environment at the Tribal Sober Living Facility. This position supports residents with daily living skills, follows individual treatment plans, completes required documentation, and adheres to all facility policies and procedures. Additional duties may be assigned to support program and departmental goals. This position reflects PCI’s core values of Perseverance, Opportunity, Accountability, Respect, Culture, and Honesty.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, clean, drug- and alcohol-free living environment and enforce house rules
  • Monitor residents, communicate updates during shift changes, and report incidents promptly
  • Conduct drug and alcohol screenings and assist with resident check-in and discharge
  • Support residents with daily living tasks and supervise assigned chores
  • Provide transportation to approved appointments, meetings, and activities
  • Complete required documentation, reports, and basic administrative duties

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology preferred)
  • Experience working in a Residential facility preferred
  • Experience working with clients who are attempting to break the cycle of drugs and/or alcohol dependency preferred
  • CPR Certification or the ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire required
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events

Skills

  • Ability to enforce rules and maintain accountability in a structured environment
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) in a Windows environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Trustworthy, mature, and able to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Effective verbal and written communication with residents, families, visitors, and staff
  • Dependable, accountable, and able to follow policies and procedures

Preference will be given in accordance with Title 33 (Tribal Employment Rights) of the Tribal Code/DFWP: (1) Tribal Member (2) First Generation Descendant of a Tribal Member (3) Spouse of Tribal Member (4) Indian (5) Non-Indian. For federally funded positions, preference shall be given in the following order: (1) Indian (2) Non-Indian. Appropriate documentation must be submitted to receive preference.
